GUERIN, BARBARA B., 96, of 1163 Carlton Avenue, Burlington, NC died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sunday, June 7, 2009. A native of Kent County, RI, she was the wife of the late Theodore Albert Guerin and the daughter of the late George W. and Bertha M. (Northup) Seamans. She was a graduate of Rhode Island College and a retired elementary school teacher with the Cranston school system. Mrs. Guerin was a member of Elon Community Church United Church of Christ, the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Roger Williams Society. Survivors include her daughter, Judith Leipf of Burlington, NC; a son, David T. Guerin and wife, Margaret J. of Burlington, NC; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service was conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington, NC on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at East Greenwich Cemetery in East Greenwich, Rhode Island at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. GUINN, FRED H., 88, of Johnston died Friday, June 12, 2009. He was the beloved husband for 67 years of Edesse (Leonard) Guinn. Born in Cumberland, a son of the late Jake W. and Bertha M. (Hathaway) Guinn. Mr. Guinn worked in the Maintenance Department of Texas Instruments in Attleboro for 30 years retiring in 1970. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran serving in the African Theatre. He was a past troop leader for Troop 35 B.S.A. South Attleboro and a member of the South Attleboro American Legion Post. He lived in Attleboro, MA and Pompano Beach, FL before moving to Johnston in 1995. Besides his wife he is survived by his children; Paula Winsor, Kevin Guinn, Dennis Guinn, and Karen Birmingham; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Charles Guinn, Mildred Trowbridge, and Ethel Tomlinson. MITCHELL, EDDIE H. 'MITCH' 81, of Herndon, VA formerly of East Providence, RI entered into eternal life on Monday May 4th, 2009. He was the husband of the late Gladys Mitchell (Anne). Born in Jackson Tennessee, son of the late Eddie H. Mitchell and Juanita (French) Mitchell. After graduating from Mary High School he enlisted in the U. S. NAVY. During his tenure he served on the USS WASP and USS TARAWA. Mitch was a WWII veteran. He retired from the U.S. Navy 1966. Mitch is also listed in the Navy Memorial located in Washington, DC. Mitch also retired from the Rhode Island Department of Corrections. He was a Mason, a member of the Irreproachable Beneficial Association (IBA), and the American Legion. He enjoyed horse racing, playing cards. Mitch leaves to cherish his memories one daughter Sonja Mitchell-Perry of Reston , VA and a step-daughter Gail Lincoln of Herndon, VA, grandchildren Marlo Lincoln , Qiana Forbes and Rodney Perry all of VA. Siblings include sister Clara Reeves, brother Cecil Mitchell both of Chicago IL, brother Clifford Mitchell of Lithonia, GA, and brother Ernest Mitchell of Jackson, TN. He was also brother of the late Mildred Gaynor. Mitch leaves behind a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and good friends. MURPHY, THOMAS J., 83, died Saturday, June 13, 2009. He was the beloved husband for 60 years of Teresa M. (Sweeney) Murphy. Born in Cheshire, CT, the son of the late Thomas J. and Lillian Murphy, he resided in Edgewood for 53 years. He was the father of Karen A. LaCrosse, Thomas J. Murphy, III, James F. Murphy, Ann M. Murphy, Joseph L. Murphy and Janet M. Stark. He also leaves 8 grandchildren. He was a devoted husband and father and will be missed. All who knew him thought him to be a kind, generous and caring man. Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Bryant University and was a standout kicker on their football team. He later played for the South Providence Swans. He began his business career with Industrial National Bank and later became a commercial real estate/business broker and was involved in a variety of business enterprises. A WWII Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific Theatre Of Operations and was undefeated on the Navy's amateur boxing team. He was a Rotarian with the Providence Rotary Club for nearly 50 years and gave generously of his time. He was an avid golfer and member of Crestwood Country Club for 25 years. TROTTER, JOSEPH, 94, of Anoka Avenue, died peacefully on June 13, 2009. He was the husband of Carmella (Chianese) Trotter and the late Rose (Cicerone) Trotter. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Frederick and Lillian (Cimerelli) Trotter. Mr. Trotter was the owner of the former Trotter's Penny Candy Store of Barrington and Trotter's Book Store in Warren. He was a physical therapy assistant at Rhode Island Hospital for 27 years before retiring in 1987. Joseph was a book and card collector and was an avid reader. He was a devoted Boston Red Sox and Providence College Friars fan. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters; Beverly Ann Martel of Lady Lake, FL, Maureen R. Noel of Barrington, Sandra Jene Miller of Seekonk, MA and Lori Ann Moniz of Barrington, two brothers; Ralph Trotter of Bristol and William Trotter of Lincoln, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and three great great great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Eva DiBenedetto, Concetta and Arthur Trotter. His funeral will be held on Wednesday June 17, 2009 from the W. Born in Bronx, NY, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Agnes (Walsh) McCabe, she had been a longtime Pawtucket resident before moving to Chepachet. She had been a clerk at the Division of Motor Vehicles before retiring in 1999. She was a parishioner at St. Eugene Church and a very active Chepachet senior.
